Military Festival on Luc Dau River The Army Festival on Luc Dau River is a parade, recreating the strong force of the old military campaign with many generals and armies, reviving the glorious victory of Hung Dao Dai Vuong in the resistance war against the Yuan - Mongol invaders (13th century). According to documents, in the past, on every Kiep Bac temple festival, the locality held a military festival on Luc Dau river to commemorate a glorious time, with famous naval battles to destroy the Mongol invaders in history. The ritual was maintained until the early 20th century, but later due to war and social upheavals, it was no longer held at the Kiep Bac temple festival. Since 2006, implementing the project to upgrade the traditional Con Son - Kiep Bac festival, the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) directed the Institute of Culture and Information, Hai Duong Department of Culture and Information to restore the military festival on Luc Dau River on a large scale. All ancient bibliographies and fieldwork documents are scientifically applied to the ritual scenario. The force participating in the procession is mobilized to a maximum of about 5,000 people including local people, fishermen of Cat Ba, Quan Muc (Hai Phong), Tra Co (Quang Ninh), Kenh Giang (Hai Duong) with over 50 procession boats and a large number of people and tourists from all over. Special attention is paid to the decoration of the stage and procession boat, including flags, flowers, lights, and brilliant banners. More than 20 drummers and 30 dragon dancers from Duoc Son and Van Yen villages were restored and transferred by experts.
